Foshan Baytech is the exclusive China agent of ANDRITZ Kaiser, the German specialist in high speed punching and forming machines with more than 8,000 stamping installations worldwide. We supply bipolar plate presses, high speed stamping presses and complete production lines for metal bipolar plates used in fuel cells and electrolysers — plus the industrial chain needed to run them.
A bipolar plate press is a high speed stamping press that forms the flow channels of metal bipolar plates. Bipolar plates are the core component of fuel cell stacks and water electrolysers: they carry hydrogen between the cells, so their channel depth, surface flatness and thickness uniformity directly determine stack efficiency, energy consumption and service life.
Forming those channels in thin stainless or titanium sheet demands a press that combines very high rigidity with very high speed and repeatable accuracy. Conventional hydraulic presses reach their limits here; servo presses with continuous lubrication and closed loop slide control are what make series production of bipolar plates possible.
Most enquiries we receive start with the word manufacturing rather than press: a buyer is looking for bipolar plates made to their own drawing, and the question is which press can hold the tolerance across a production run. A bipolar plate press is the machine that carries out bipolar plate manufacturing — it forms the flow channels of the plate in a single stroke, at series rate.
Two production routes dominate, and the press differs in each:
If you are comparing bipolar plate manufacturers, the question to ask each of them is simple: what is your deflection figure, and how many plates per minute do you hold on 0.075 mm stainless? We can answer that for the ANDRITZ Kaiser TOP-LINE KSH2 — see the key figures below.
| Press force | 16,000 kN / 19,000 kN (TOP-LINE KSH2); HeavyLine series up to 25,000 kN |
|---|---|
| Production rate | up to 60 bipolar plates per minute |
| Deflection | less than 0.04 mm/m, cast iron bed design |
| Bipolar plate size | length 200–500 mm, width 100–200 mm — covers more than 90% of the sizes on the market |
| Typical European plate | 400 × 140 mm, 316 stainless steel, 0.075 mm sheet thickness, four station ultra precision stamping |
| Process | servo progressive die, continuous lubrication, Siemens servo motors, six distance sensors for dynamic stamping deformation feedback |
| Electrolysers | stamping technology for titanium plates up to 700 × 700 mm / 0.5 mm for PEM electrolysers |
| Track record | over 8,000 high speed stamping installations worldwide; ANDRITZ Kaiser founded 1945, 280+ offices in 40 countries |
The same progressive die know-how is applied to rotor and stator blanking equipment for motor laminations, where the same press families cover complete single source production lines.
Tell us your plate size, material and annual volume, and we will propose the press configuration, tooling and line layout — including the chain and auxiliary equipment for the whole plant.
